5 foods that help you lose weight

5 foods that help you lose weight

Delicious foods that help you diet? That sounds too good to be true .

There’s no doubt about it: Weight loss involves math. You have to eat fewer calories than you burn

“Certain foods can help you lose body weight because they make you feel fuller longer and help curb hunger,” says registered dietitian Heather Mangieri, R.D.

Some even boost your metabolism. So take this list with you whenever you go to the supermarket

Here are five foods that can help in weight loss due to their nutritional properties .

1. Beans

Beans, such as black beans, lentils and chickpeas, are rich in fibre and protein, which help keep you feeling full and blood sugar levels stable, making them a great choice for a weight loss diet. Beans are also high in fibre and slow to digest. This means you feel full for longer, which can prevent you from overeating.

2. Dark Chocolate

Eating dark chocolate in moderation reduces sugar cravings and helps in weight loss. It also contains antioxidants and improves insulin sensitivity, which helps in controlling weight more effectively.

3. Pureed Vegetables

Pureed vegetables like cauliflower, carrots, and squash can be used to thicken soups and sauces, adding volume and nutrients without extra calories. They also help increase fiber intake, promote satiety, and aid weight loss. You can add more vegetables to your diet, enjoy your “cheat” foods, and cut down on the calories you’re eating, all at the same time.

4. Nuts

For a great snack while running, grab a small handful of any nuts. Nuts like almonds, walnuts, and pistachios are high in healthy fats, fiber, and protein. When eaten in moderation, they promote satiety, reduce cravings, and provide essential nutrients for overall health.

5. Yogurt

Whether you prefer Greek or traditional yogurt, yogurt can be good for your waistline.

A study conducted by Harvard tracked over 120,000 people for a decade or more. Of all the foods tracked, yogurt was most associated with weight loss.

This doesn’t prove that yogurt causes weight loss, but it is different from other foods.  Yogurt, especially Greek yogurt, is rich in protein and probiotics. It helps promote satiety, supports digestive health, and can be a satisfying, low-calorie snack when choosing low-fat, unsweetened varieties.

Including these nutritious foods in your diet helps keep you feeling full, provides essential nutrients and helps control hunger. Leafy greens, lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, nuts, beans, dark chocolate, pureed vegetables and yogurt are great choices for a balanced and satisfying weight loss plan. Remember, moderation and variety are the keys to maintaining a healthy diet and achieving long-term success.
